XTEND PROGRAM

VPA Studios, a pioneer in the Illawarra dance community, is proud to present VPA XTEND, an innovative CUA10120 Certificate I in Dance program for primary school students (Years 2-6) in the region. This  initiative, in collaboration with Empowerdance, combines dance training, creative industry education, and the attainment of a nationally recognised qualification.

 

The program is set to return in 2026 for its second year, continuing to build on the success of its inaugural season. VPA Studios is excited to offer primary-aged students a unique opportunity to participate in a comprehensive curriculum that goes beyond conventional dance education. Please note this program is by invitation only, with student selection determined by demonstrated ability.

 

Program Details

 

• VPA XTEND is a Dance Program that will run every Friday from 12:30-3:30 pm for students in years 1-6.

• Students will participate in diverse weekly classes, including technique, conditioning, and open classes, led by a rotation of technique, contemporary and lyrical based tutors and VPA dance educators.

• The program is designed to enhance students' overall dance technique, refine their skills, and take them to the next level as an extension beyond their regular studio training.

• Our program is only open to VPA students

CUA10120 Certificate I in Dance

 

• VPA Studios collaborates with Empowerdance to deliver a program that transcends traditional dance education.

• Participants engage in combined dance training, concurrently working towards a Certificate I in Dance – a nationally recognised qualification that signifies excellence in dance education.

• Students in Years 5 and 6 will work towards achieving the Certificate I in Dance. Those in Years 1 to 4 will engage in pre-certificate theory work, tailored to their individual learning levels, to help prepare them for completing the Certificate I in Year 6. Completion of the pre-certificate theory work in Years 1 to 4 is a requirement for attaining the Certificate I in Dance when they reach the eligible age

 

Elite Arts Exemption

• Students are required to apply for an exemption of attendance from their schools.

• This recognition extends beyond traditional gifted and talented opportunities, providing students with a unique chance to participate within a program of exceptional artistic merit.
