australia's got talent finalists
After being scouted by talent agents, VPA Studios appeared in the 2019 season of Australia's Got Talent. Their live audition brought their audience - including judge Nicole Scherzinger - to tears on Australia's Got Talent. The student performed an emotional piece choreographed by studio owner Victoria Vargas, interpreting body image and other societal pressures teens face. AGT was be a wonderful platform to perform this specific routine as it has a really special and profound message, "The girls wanted to use it to try and reach out to other teens their own age." The group has performed the dance previously at competitions and an end of year showcase. This somehow got the attention of television producers who invited them to audition for the show. The episode was filmed on Mother's Day, but aired on Sunday August 4. The teens, all dressed in nude-coloured leotards, perform the evocative dance with words of hope written in black pen on their bodies. The end result brings much of the studio audience to tears, and judge Scherzinger thanking them for an inspiring and "beautiful" performance. "I'm sorry to be so emotional but I just feel you, I know what it's like," Scherzinger said. "So many of us are out there, you are a voice. Don't let anyone determine your worth, your value, your success, who you are. That was so beautiful." All four judges (including Lucy Durack, Shane Jacobson and Manu Feildel) buzzed the dance troupe through, though it's yet unknown whether they make the finals in the series. The ultimate winner of AGT (whether a solo artist or group) will win $100,000.
